Huckleberry Summer Camp

A back-to-basics, old-fashioned and fun-filled summer day camp for children (who have completed kindergarten) ages 5-12.

INFORMATION

Huckleberry Summer Camp takes place on the campus of Sipe’s Orchard Home, located between Hickory and Conover on County Home Road. With hundreds of acres in rural Catawba County, this ideal site provides wide open spaces, forest trails, streams, and fishing ponds. Meeting/crafts areas and the picnic pavilion provide indoor and sheltered spaces.

Huckleberry Summer Camp draws on Sipe's Orchard Home's experience enriching young people's lives. With friends and other children from the community, campers benefit from the safe and nurturing environment Sipe's has fostered for over seventy five years.

A perfect site, great activities, and an enthusiastic and well-trained staff add up to a summer of fun.

  • Breakfasts, lunches, and snacks are provided, and included in the cost.
  • Cost: $30 non-refundable registration fee.
  • Reservation Fees: $10 per selected week, per child. The reservation fees will be applied to the payment for those reserved weeks that are attended. The reservation fee is forfeited when a reserved week is not attended.
  • Camp Cost: $130 per week, per child unless otherwise noted. This fee is all-inclusive. No additional money is required.
  • A sibling discount offers $5 off each sibling’s weekly fee.
  • Sipe’s Orchard Home is a sponsor and site for the Summer Food Service Program for the meals provided for children enrolled in the Huckleberry Summer Camp Program.

2025 OPERATIONAL INFORMATION

Traditional Camp - Ages 5-12

Theme: National Days of Summer

Explore the different kinds of “National Days”, how they came about and why. Enjoy swimming, skating, movies, hiking, gardening, cooking and more.

Traditional Camp is available for ages 5 - 12 (has to have finished Kindergarten).

Traditional Camp campers participate in onsite activities such as crafts, games, cooking, 4-H, and Master Gardening. Campers will swim each week at Kool Park, go on off site field trips on the odd weeks, and do gardening and cooking on the even weeks. There are no field trips week 1 or week 12.

Operating days and hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Camp cost: Weekly rate is $130 per week except Week 1 May 27, 2025 – May 30, 2025 ($104) and June 30, 2025 – July 3, 2025 ($104)
Registration fee: $30 per child
Non-refundable reservation fee: $10 per week / per child

NEW!! ACE Camp (Adventure Community Environment) Ages 11-13 Only

Theme: Adventure, Community Service and Environmental Learning

Campers will be off campus for the bulk of the day, 4 days of the week.

Monday: Community Service Projects, Tuesday & Thursday: Field Trip, Friday: Swim Day. Wednesdays are on campus day for cooking and gardening.

This camp is designed for youth to try new things, learn about their community, and appreciate the environment. There are many things planned that are fun but also expands learning opportunities.

Space will be limited to 10 youth per week.

Operating days and hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Camp cost: Weekly rate is $150 per week
Registration fee: $30 per child
Non-refundable reservation fee: $10 per week / per child
